Israel On Our Minds
Israel On Our Minds
Misheberach for our Chayalim
Our community is honored to have the following young men and women affiliated with YIS families serving as IDF Soldiers. Please keep them in your prayers always:
AIPAC Delegation
Year after year the Young Israel of Scarsdale sends one of the largest synagogue delegations per capita in the country to the AIPAC Policy Conference. Our synagogue is proud of its political activism on behalf of the State of Israel and this has even inspired many of our teens to get involved with AIPAC from an early age.
B’nai Akiva SNIF
YIS is proud to host B’nei Akiva Shlichot from Israel every year. They bring the ruach of Eretz Yisrael and Medinat Yisrael to our community. The Shlichot, along with our teenage Madrichim and Madrichot, run a fun and educational SNIF on Shabbat afternoon twice a month. In addition, there are also specialty programs on weeknights throughout the year and our highly attended Yom HaZikaron and Yom Ha’Atzmaut programming is put together by our B’nei Akiva shlichot in coordination with the Rabbis.
Missions to Israel
YIS maintains a very strong connection to Medinat Yisrael and Eretz Yisrael. Every year there is a YIS mission to Israel to engage in Chesed projects, visit with Chayalim in the hospital and to learn Torat Yisrael. Sometimes these missions are family missions in the summer which often allow for B’nei Mitzvah to celebrate at the Kotel or engage in a special project as part of their Bar/Bat Mitzvah year. Other times YIS has had Men’s Missions and Women’s Missions in the winter. Our Missions are always led by Rabbi Morgenstern along with a professional tour guide.
