Sisterhood
YIS Sisterhood
The Young Israel of Scarsdale Sisterhood is an active group of women spanning generations, who enhance our shul community by spearheading fundraising initiatives, community programs and social events.
YIS Sisterhood programs are fundamental to enhancing the feeling of community that is so special to our shul. This includes supporting our youth programming through providing gift bags and snacks for our children on holidays, welcoming new families with Shabbat meals and new members with gift baskets, delivering Shiva meals, celebrating Bar and Bat Mitzvahs with thoughtful gifts and coordinating package deliveries to our college students.
The YIS Sisterhood is also proud to be the driving force behind many acts of Gemilat Chesed, such as helping those in need and coordinating an annual blood drive. The Sisterhood also runs a variety of fundraising events throughout the year, including communal Rosh Hashanah cards, Purim Mishloach Manot baskets, holiday boutiques and the annual YIS calendar.
Finally, YIS Sisterhood is constantly offering interesting and engaging social-educational activities including, most recently, a cooking event and a female educator lecture series.
For more information about the YIS Sisterhood or to become involved, please contact YIS Sisterhood president, Rifkie Goldberger and Ariel Levitan.
